Two homes in a Galway city housing estate were badly damaged in a fire early this morning.
Six people were in the houses when the blaze broke out in Tirellan Heights around 5:45am.
Three units of the fire brigade battled the fire, which was extinguished soon after 7am.
A number of houses in the area were evacuated during the incident.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
