Saturday 02 August 2014 15.33 Gardaí are investigating a fatal house fire in Co Westmeath overnight.
The blaze broke out at around 3.30am at an address in Jordanstown in Ballynacargy.
There were two people in the house at the time.
A 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene while an 82-year-old woman suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.
She has been transferred to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar for treatment.
A post mortem on the man's remains will be carried out.
Gardaí say the investigation is ongoing.
