A man has been arrested in London in connection with the death of a 37-year-old man originally from Co Waterford.

Michael Hunt was found with serious injuries to his head and body in a skip in an alleyway off Station Road in South Norwood at around 7am on Saturday morning.

He was taken to King's College Hospital, where he died later that day.

A post-mortem examination is under way.

An investigation is being led by officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.

Detective Chief Inspector Diane Tudway said Mr Hunt was well-known in the local community.

She urged anyone with information, or anyone who may have seen Mr Hunt in the time prior to him being found, to come forward and speak to police.

"The information available to us at this stage leads us to believe that Mr Hunt was not the victim of a stranger or random attack. However, our inquiries continue."
