Met Éireann has issued a countrywide rainfall warning.
It says a combination of heavy rain, gale force winds and high tide may lead to flooding on some coasts.
A flood warning remains in place for Cork city.
The road between Crosshaven and Carrigaline in the county is impassable due to flood waters.
Meanwhile, the annual Bray sea swim in aid of charity has been postponed because of poor weather.
About 200 swimmers had been due to take part in the event at 12pm today.
The swim will now be held on St Patrick's Day.
