Cash recovered following armed raid on Dublin bank

Gardaí have recovered a firearm and a small amount of cash following an armed bank raid in Donnybrook, Dublin.

Two men entered the Montrose branch of Bank of Ireland on the Stillorgan Road at around 11.30am and threatened staff with a firearm.

The raiders escaped the scene in a white car which was abandoned nearby. 

The two men transferred to a motorbike which was pursued by uniformed gardaí on patrol in the area.

Following a short chase the pillion passenger fled the scene on foot and was arrested by officers.

The full amount of cash and a firearm was recovered.

The suspect in his 30s is being held at Irishtown Garda Station.

Nobody was hurt in the incident and gardaí are continuing to search for the second raider.
