A motorcycle has been recovered which gardaí believe may have been used in a shooting in Dublin last night.

A 33-year-old man was seriously injured in the incident.

It is the second time he has survived a gun attack.

At a press briefing this afternoon, gardaí said the man presented himself at Store Street Garda Station at 9.15pm after receiving a head wound.

An ambulance treated him at the scene and he was then taken to the Mater Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The injured man told gardaí that he was in his silver Mercedes on Sheriff Street when he was shot by two people on a motorbike.

Gardaí have yet to formally interview the injured man.

They have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Superintendent Sean Ward has appealed to anyone who may have been around Sheriff Street, Amiens Street or Store Street, or anyone who may have seen the motorcycle, the silver Mercedes or the incident to come forward.

Gardaí have also appealed to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious on Abercorn Road to contact them at Store Street Garda Station on 01-6660000 or on the Garda Confidential Line, 1800-666-111.
