Internet security company Symantec is to create 400 jobs with the establishment of a new European Customer Management Centre alongside its existing facility in Blanchardstown in Dublin.
The new centre will provide a Europe-wide sales and support function to Symantec's customers and partners.
200 of the jobs will be created immediately, while another 200 will be created over the next two years.
The company says it will be seeking highly-skilled, multilingual staff to take on the roles.
Symantec has been in Blanchardstown for 22 years, and the base which employs just over 600 people is already home to a security operations centre, as well as operations in business authentication, software development and testing.
The new project is supported by the IDA and its chief executive Barry O'Leary said Symantec is part of a thriving cluster of world leading security software companies operating in Ireland
Commenting on its announcement, Symantec said it was eager to build on its success to date in Ireland.
Welcoming the announcement, Taoiseach Enda Kenny said it was a signal of Symantec's continuing commitment to Ireland and testament to a talented and flexible workforce here.
Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton said it was a fantastic example of the government's ambition under the Action Plan for Jobs to grow the ICT sector, particularly through companies already present in Ireland.
