A 59-year-old woman has appeared in court charged in connection with the violent death of her husband in Dublin 25 years ago.
Father-of-two Christopher Payne died in hospital six months after he was attacked at his home in Crumlin in May 1988 by a group of men armed with a hatchet.
Philomena Coton, with an address in Coventry in England, faces two charges, assault with intent to murder and causing grievous bodily harm.
She was remanded in custody to appear in court again next Wednesday.
Detective Sergeant Daniel Kelly told the court this morning that he arrested Ms Coton at Dublin Airport at 9.10pm last night on foot of an extradition warrant.
He said that when she was charged just before 10pm at Sundrive Road Garda Station, she replied: "I'm innocent."
Ms Coton did not speak during the brief hearing this morning.
The court was told that the DPP had directed trial on indictment and that the court did not have the jurisdiction to grant bail.
It heard the accused would have to apply for bail to the High Court.
Mr Payne's daughter Sharon Cullen, 40, is also currently before the courts on similar charges.
