Roy Keane has pleaded not guilty in relation to an alleged road rage incident with a taxi driver near Manchester in January.
Keane, the assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland football team, is accused of threatening, abusive or disorderly behaviour causing harassment, alarm or distress.
The former footballer was issued with a summons to appear at Trafford Magistrates' Court today, but did not appear and entered his plea through his solicitor.
The case has been put back to 19 June at Salford Magistrates' Court.
Police were called to an incident near Keane's home in Altrincham on 30 January to deal with a report that a man had behaved aggressively towards another man.
It is alleged that a row broke out between the former Manchester United captain and taxi driver Fatah Kerar at a set of traffic lights.
Mr Kerar claimed the incident began when he and a passenger noticed Keane parked in his Range Rover. Keane was later questioned by police.
The court heard the prosecution intends to call two witnesses - understood to be taxi driver Fatah Kerar and a taxi passenger - while the defence plans to call Roy Keane and an additional witness.
The case was originally scheduled for last week but was postponed.
