UPC Ireland is to shed up to 170 jobs at five facilities as part of a restructuring plan.
The company is planning to outsource some of its operations while changing others to reduce costs, with the restructuring programme set to be complete by summer.
UPC said redundancies and redeployments would be on a voluntary basis where possible across its facilities in Limerick, Dublin, Galway, Cork and Waterford.
Representatives of trade union SIPTU plan to meet with management tomorrow in Limerick to begin discussions.
It said some operations will be relocated to the Philippines and others amalgamated.
"The changes taking place will impact a number of divisions across the company but primarily relate to activities in customer care, sales and field operations," said UPC Ireland CEO Magnus Ternsjö.
"UPC will also migrate additional activity from certain outsource partners and relocate this business to other third party suppliers within the Liberty Global group."
