Man who contacted O'Hara on web gives evidence

The jury in the trial of Graham Dwyer for the murder of Elaine O'Hara has heard evidence from a seventh man who had contact with her via a website for those with "alternative sexual tastes".

Mr Dwyer has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Ms O'Hara on 22 August 2012.

The court heard Kevin Mullins' telephone number was found in the contacts list of Elaine O'Hara's phone.

He said the only way he could explain that was that he was a registered user of a particular website.

He said he joined the website in 2010 or early 2011 and he said he found it by browsing on the internet.

He said he did not believe he knew Elaine O'Hara or had ever met her.

He did remember conversing with three or four people online and had exchanged telephone numbers with a couple and assumed she must have been one of those people.

Mr Mullilns told gardaí his username on the site was "young and fit for it".

He said gardaí asked him about 22 August 2012.

He agreed that it was difficult to remember what he had done on that date as it was so long ago but it was most likely he had been working.

The jury has been shown a receipt and order form for a prepaid mobile phone bought in the 3 store on Grafton Street in March 2011.

The mobile phone number for the phone was an 083 number.

The court was told details were inputted into the company's registration system.

Gerard McCormack, who worked in the shop, said the information would normally be written down by the customer when he or she was buying the phone and would be inputted by the staff member later.

The jury was told the name inputted into the system by Mr McCormack for the person who bought the phone was Goroon Caisholn, with a date of birth of April 4th 1992.

The address was given as Oak Lawn, Clerihan, Tipperary and the home number was given as 086 2100407.

The phone purchased was a black Nokia 2730 phone.

It was a pay-as-you-go phone and would have generated no bills, the court was told, and the customer would have needed no documents to verify identity.

The court then heard evidence from Gordon Chisholm - another architect - from Scotland who had first met Mr Dwyer while he was at college in Dublin in 1994.

Mr Chisholm said he last saw him in around 2000.

It was put to Mr Chisholm that the name registered for the phone was not the same as his but "not a million miles away from it."

Mr Chisholm said he had not purchased the phone in the 3 store and would probably have been at work in Waterford at the time and not in Dublin.

A number of email addresses in his name were put to him.

He said he had not set them up and not given anyone permission to set them up.

Ms O'Hara's GP Matthew Corcoran gave evidence that the O'Hara family came to his practice since the 1980s.

He said he would have seen Elaine O'Hara mainly in relation to her asthma.

He said he would have seen her ten or 11 times a year and last saw her in July 2012.

He said he was aware she was being treated for depression but would not have been involved in her treatment.

He said he was not aware that Ms O'Hara had ever been pregnant.

He said she had never presented with self-harm injuries.

He said that overall in recent years, Ms O'Hara seemed to have been doing better than in previous times.

He said her overall medical status was better and she was doing reasonably well.

Under cross-examination by lawyers for Mr Dwyer, Dr Corcoran agreed Ms O'Hara had had a substantial number of admissions to St Edmondsbury's Hospital in Lucan and a lot of them related to episodes of self harm.

The court also heard from an eighth man who had contact with Ms O'Hara via a website.

Cathal O'Brien said he had never met Ms O'Hara.

His number was found on her mobile phone.

He said he did recall texting someone from the Blackrock area.

Earlier, Paddy Fletcher from A & D Wejchert architects, where Mr Dwyer worked, said Mr Dwyer was talented at a particular aspect of the work of an architect - making computer generated images of buildings.

He said he was present when gardaí found two knives in the basement of the offices in February last year.

He said the basement was used mainly to store files.

He gave evidence that Mr Dwyer had represented the firm at an oral hearing at An Bord Pleanala in July 2012 into the extension and rebuilding of Liberty Hall.

He said he understood Mr Dwyer had financial difficulties but didn't know anything about it.
