Hundreds without power due to gusty weather

Written By Unknown on Sabtu, 10 Januari 2015 | 22.40

Hundreds of homes and businesses remain without power today due to stormy conditions overnight.

Some ferries between Dublin and Holyhead have been cancelled as a result of the inclement conditions.

The majority of those affected are along the west coast of Ireland.

Speaking to RTÉ News, a spokesperson for ESB Networks said efforts have been underway since sunrise to repair power shortages as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile two marine weather warnings are in place today, a Status Yellow gale warning is in place with west to northwest gales expected on Irish coastal waters from Slyne Head to Fair Head to Wicklow Head and on the Irish Sea.

A Status Yellow small craft warning is in place with west to northwest winds expected to reach force 6 or 7 today on coasts from Wicklow Head to Mizen Head to Slyne Head.
