The funeral of Valerie Greaney has taken place at St Colman's Cathedral in Cobh, Co Cork.
Mrs Greaney was stabbed to death by her husband, Michael, at their home on 28 December, before he took his own life.
The couple's daughter, Michelle, who was seriously injured in the same incident, was released from hospital to accompany her younger sister to the funeral.
In his homily, Chief Celebrant Fr Pat O'Donoghue said a darkness now hung over the town of Cobh.
He described Mrs Greaney as an out-going woman who worked hard, especially for her family.
He said she was caring and was quick to forgive. Mrs Greaney loved dancing and a cup of tea, he said.
Fr O'Donoghue also prayed for Mr Greaney.
Among a number of symbols of Mrs Greaney's life brought to the altar was a picture of her and her husband.
The couple's daughter, Michelle, who was seriously injured in the incident, attended the funeral mass with her younger sister, Sarah.
Mrs Greaney was buried in the local St Colman's Cemetery. Mr will be buried alongside her there, following a private funeral mass tomorrow.
