Britons travelling abroad are being warned that they could be targeted by terrorists seeking revenge for UK air strikes against the Islamic State group.
The British Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for all destinations across the globe.
It said British nationals faced a "heightened threat" of attack from "groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria".
It urges all Britons living or travelling overseas to be "vigilant" at the current time.
The office said that it was responding to the "generalised threat" rather than warnings of a specific attack.
The move comes after Home Secretary Theresa May announced in August that the UK national terror threat level had been raised from "substantial" to "severe", meaning an attack is considered "highly likely".
Last month, the British parliament gave the go-ahead for the RAF to carry out air strikes against IS forces in Iraq.
The British government has been supplying arms to the Kurdish peshmerga militias fighting the extremists.
The updated advice stated: "There is considered to be a heightened threat of terrorist attack globally against UK interests and British nationals from groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria. You should be vigilant at this time."
Elsewhere, about 150 Iraqi peshmerga fighters left a Turkish military warehouse after a three-day wait to head across the border and join the fight against IS in the Syrian town of Kobane.
The fighters drove out of the heavily guarded warehouse and headed towards the Mursitpinar border crossing to reinforce Syrian Kurds in the battle for the town.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has said at least 100 IS fighters have been killed over the past three days in Kobane.
It said 576 IS fighters have been killed in the town since clashes began there on 16 September.
Elsewhere, it has been reported that IS has killed 50 members of Iraq's Albu Mimr tribe.
