A pharmaceutical company has said it will create 150 jobs in Waterford with the siting of a new facility in the city.

West Pharmaceutical Services makes products for the injectable drug component market.

The initial investment is €100 million.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton made the announcement this morning.

Construction on the facility at the Knockhouse on Old Kilmeaden Road is planned to begin early next year.

The company said if it continues to expand, between 250 to 300 jobs could eventually be created.

Mr Kenny said: "It is a massive boost for Waterford and the entire South East and I am happy that the Government was able to assist through the work of the IDA.

"The Government is determined to secure economic recovery by incentivising job creation and further investment in the area."
