A man has appeared in court charged with tampering with ESB and gas meters in Dublin over the past two years.
James McLoughlin, 41, from Summer Street South in Dublin, was charged with 12 offences including possession of stolen gas meters and criminal damage to gas and ESB meters.
He was remanded on bail to appear again next month.
He already faced two charges of criminal damage but today was charged with four counts of possession of stolen gas meters belonging to Bord Gáis Networks.
He was also charged on four counts of unlawful interference with a gas meter, unlawful interference with an ESB meter, and criminal damage to a gas and ESB meter.
The 12 offences were alleged to have occurred between July last year and February of this year.
Detective Garda Dave Ennis told the court that Mr McLoughlin made no reply to the charges.
The court was told the DPP had directed trial on indictment and the book of evidence could be served in six weeks' time.
There was no objection to bail and Judge Michael Walsh granted him free legal aid to appear in court again on 22 October.
