Friday 01 August 2014 16.14 A three-year-old boy has died in a farm accident in Gortnascreena, Drimoleague in west Cork.
It is understood there was farm machinery being operated on the farm when the accident occurred at around 10.30am.
The boy was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
A post-mortem examination will take place tomorrow.
The Health and Safety Authority and gardaí are investigating the incident.
An investigation is taking place for the purposes of compiling a file for the Coroner's Court.
Gardaí have described the death as a tragic accident.
