A 42-year-old man has been charged at a special court sitting with stealing an ATM from a bank in Tubbercurry, Co Sligo last January.
Bernard Quigley with an address at Branchfield, Drumfin, Co Sligo appeared at Carrick-on-Shannon District Court where he was charged with two offences.
He is accused of damaging the front wall and ATM housing at the Bank of Ireland on Teeling Street on 29 January and with stealing the ATM safe containing €124,300 in cash.
Supt Kevin English told the court that Mr Quigley was arrested yesterday.
He made no reply when the charges were put to him after caution.
The superintendent asked Judge Conal Gibbons to remand the accused in custody on a number of grounds, including his belief that Mr Quigley was living permanently in Lisnaskea, Co Fermanagh and would leave this jurisdiction.
Having heard evidence from Supt English and Mr Quigley's solicitor Gerry McGovern, Judge Gibbons refused bail.
The judge remanded the accused in custody to appear again at Harristown court next Friday.
