An agreement expected to be announced this evening on the Garth Brooks concert series amid speculation two concerts may be held later in year.
The mediation meeting on the concerts scheduled to take place this evening has been called off.
A spokesperson for Garth Brooks said he will address the cancelled Dublin concerts later today.
The musician is holding a major press conference in Nashville today, which is scheduled to begin at 5pm Irish time.
A meeting between Dublin Lord Mayor Christy Burke, Dublin City Council chief executive Owen Keegan and mediator Kieran Mulvey was due to take place at 5pm to see if a compromise could be reached over the staging of five concerts at Croke Park.
The meeting was requested by Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
Meanwhile, the residents group most opposed to the holding of the concerts has said it will now agree to some going ahead.
Eamon O'Brien of the Croke Park Streets Committee had previously threatened legal action against any of the concerts.
Mr O'Brien said that "in the interest of all the Croke Park communities we are prepared to consider a new direction with a view to facilitating the holding of the Garth Brooks concerts".
Mr Keegan is scheduled to answer questions on the Brooks concerts at an Oireachtas committee next Tuesday.
Páraic Duffy of the GAA and Peter Aiken of Aiken Promotions have accepted invitations to appear before the Transport, Tourism and Sport committee tomorrow at 11am.
Mr Keegan was unable to attend on that date because of work commitments.
It is understood that the committee meeting will not go ahead if a resolution is found.
Earlier today, the city's Lord Mayor said Mexico's Ambassador to Ireland Carlos García de Alba has offered his services "at a diplomatic level" to try to resolve the issue.
Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Mr Burke said the ambassador was available and anxious to introduce his diplomatic skills if needed.
Mr Burke also said a group of residents from Ballybough told him they intend to call on US President Barack Obama to try to encourage Mr Brooks to play in Dublin.
Mr Burke said the integrity of the planning law that the Dublin city manager had signed had to be respected.
However, he said he thought the conditions of the decision that was made needed to be looked at.
He said the conditions could be to alter the three concerts to five, or to hold the three concerts and move the other two to a different venue.
Mr Burke added: "The nation is crying out now for it to be resolved".
Taoiseach should be willing to call Brooks - Costello
Also speaking on Morning Ireland, Minister of State for Trade and Development Joe Costello said the Taoiseach should be willing to make a call to Mr Brooks or take a call from the singer to try to resolve the ongoing problems over the concerts at Croke Park.
Mr Costello suggested that Mr Brooks could play three concerts this month and then play two more in Ireland as part of his world tour.
He also said provision should be made for video conferencing in negotiations with the country star and his management to avoid communications difficulty.
The Labour TD said the money the concerts would generate is comparable to that of trade missions and the Taoiseach leads such missions all the time and so it would be "quite appropriate" for the Taoiseach to pull out all the stops.
Mr Costello also said he thought three concerts was an appropriate compromise, and said Ireland is not a "banana republic".
Meanwhile, an injunction application to prevent the three licenced Garth Brooks concerts from going ahead later this month, has been struck out at the High Court.
Local resident Brian Duff had brought an application against Aiken Promotions and Croke Park seeking an injunction to prevent the shows on 25, 26 and 27 July from taking place.
Mr Justice Paul Gilligan had granted lawyers for Mr Duff permission to bring the injunction application this morning.
Senior Counsel Frank Callinan told the court this morning his instructions were not to proceed with the application and told the judge the proceedings could be struck out.
The move follows the announcement by the promoters earlier this week that all concerts had been cancelled.
Earlier this week Mr Callinan said his client was a scaffolder who had lived in the Croke Park area all his life.
He said he was taking the action because of fears the concerts would cause anti-social behaviour and disruption in the area.
Mr Callinan said Mr Duff has lived at his current address at North Cumberland Street North, in Dublin 3 all his life.
He said that during the concerts he will have limited access to his home and will be subjected to concert goers "vomiting" and "urinating" on the street.
The court was told Mr Duff has been involved with the Croke Park Streets Committee Group, which is opposed to the concerts, but was taking the action in his own capacity.
Gardaí satisfied event could run safely over five days
Meanwhile, Assistant Garda Commissioner John Twomey told the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee this morning that gardaí were satisfied that the event could be run safely over five days.
He said gardaí were consulted early on about the management of the event, but they do not have role in the issuing of the licence.
He said once an event is being planned work starts and gardaí would have been consulted around ten months ago.
He said they meet everyone with a role in ensuring the safe management of the event.
Brooks to hold press conference in Nashville
Mr Brooks is expected to make a major announcement about his career, with speculation rife that he will end his retirement and begin a world tour.
The press conference will be live-streamed on the musician's website.
This afternoon, former Green Party junior minister Ciaran Cuffe said he had been asked by gardaí to give a statement confirming his objection to the concerts.
