Post-mortem examinations are being carried out on the bodies of two brothers, who were found dead last night near Tubbercurry, Co Sligo.
The two have been named locally as nine-year-old Brandon and 20-year-old Shane Skeffington.
The post-mortems are being carried out this afternoon at Sligo Regional Hospital by Dr Michael Curtis from the State Pathologist's office.
Brandon was found with stab wounds at his home in Banada, Tourlestrane shortly after 7.30pm yesterday.
He was taken from the scene by air ambulance and taken to Sligo Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Shane Skeffington Junior was found dead in a shed at the same location.
It appears that he may have stabbed his younger brother before taking his own life.
Gardaí are not looking for anyone else at present in connection with the incident.
The scene has been preserved pending a technical examination.
The brothers are survived by their parents and two-year-old brother and 15-year-old sister.
