Sunday 20 July 2014 14.05 A 19-year-old Irishman has gone missing off the coast of Byron Bay in Australia.
The man had been surfing with two others when he went missing yesterday at 10:35am local time.
A 26-year-old was rescued from the water, while a 20-year-old was taken from the rocks with minor injuries.
The search for the missing Irishman has been called off for the night and will resume at first light.
The Department of Foreign Affairs says it has been in contact with members of his family here in Ireland and in Australia.
