Thursday 03 July 2014 16.29 Six political parties received €171,644 in political donations last year, figures from the Standards in Public Office Commission show.
Fine Gael had the biggest amount of donations, receiving €112,625, which was made up of donations from deputies and MEPs.
The Socialist Party received €25,980, which included donations from Joe Higgins and Ruth Coppinger and their former MEP Paul Murphy.
Sinn Féin received €21,084, Workers and Unemployed Action Group received €5,000, the Green Party got €4,880 and the United Left Alliance got €2,075.
SIPO said no other party disclosed any donations in 2013.
Donations over €1,500 must be disclosed and the maximum value of donations that a political party can accept from the same donor in the same year is €2,500.
The Labour Party and Fianna Fáil had not received any donations over €1,500.
In total, 16 political parties were registered during 2013 to contest the Dáil or European elections and they are required to furnish a statement on their donations in 2013 by 31 March 2014.
The figures also show that 162 local branches of Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil, Sinn Féin, the Green Party and the Labour Party had over €1m in total in their bank accounts at the end of 2013.
54 branches of Fine Gael had €514,734 in their accounts at the end of 2013, 37 branches of Fianna Fáil had €335,320, 37 branches of the Labour Party had €117,201, 22 branches of the Green Party had €49,543 and 12 branches of Sinn Féin had €6,634.
In June this year the commission said it referred a file to the gardaí / DPP regarding four non-compliant branches, which had not provided the relevant documentation.
Two of the branches submitted their documentation later in June but two branches, the Fine Gael branch in Clane and Fianna Fáil branch in Dún Laoghaire, had not submitted their returns at the time SIPO was writing its report.
