14-year-old girl dies in Co Kerry crash

A 14-year-old girl has died after the car she was a passenger in crashed into a ditch near Scartaglen, Co Kerry.

The crash happened at around 11.25pm yesterday.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 20-year-old driver and an 18-month-old baby girl were taken to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee where their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The road has been closed to facilitate a Garda forensic examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Castleisland Garda Station on 066-7163090 the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
