Friday 02 May 2014 15.18 An Irish company which provides outsourced technical support for dozens of multinational corporations has promised to create 350 new jobs in Cork by the end of the year.
The announcement was made at the head office of Voxpro in Cork city by Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton.
The Government will be supporting the company through Enterprise Ireland.
Voxpro was set up 15 years ago with just six employees.
Today it employs 500 people across three purpose-built offices in Cork, as well as operations in Dublin and San Francisco.
Voxpro offers out-sourced technical support in 12 different languages to clients and customers of more than 100 companies and organisations worldwide.
Google, Travelzoo and Nest are among the well-known corporations which uses Voxpro's services.
Voxpro says its success is based on providing strong links between businesses and their clients.
Voxpro's expansion has been rapid and the company says it is not finished growing yet.
Voxpro says it is ahead of its own schedule to employ more than 1,000 people by the end of next year.
Elsewhere, a multi-national fire protection and security company has told the New York Stock Exchange that it is moving its corporate headquarters from Switzerland to Cork.
The move will bring Tyco's staff numbers in Ireland to 700 over the next three years.
Tyco currently employs 100 people in Ireland, and in January the company announced that it planned to create another 500 jobs at a business services centre in Cork.
Tyco has annual revenues of more than $10bn (€7.2bn) and employs 65,000 people in 50 countries.
The company says it has decided to move its corporate headquarters from Switzerland to Cork to avail of Ireland's "business-friendly atmosphere and its well-established legal and regulatory framework".
Tyco says it expects shareholders to vote on the proposal at a special general meeting.
