Wednesday 14 May 2014 16.22 A second investigation has been launched at Cavan General Hospital following the death of another baby.
In a statement this afternoon, the Health Service Executive confirmed that a baby born yesterday died there today.
The statement said a full review of all the circumstances around the death will be carried out.
This is the second incident of a baby dying shortly after being delivered in the hospital in recent weeks.
A separate investigation is already under way following the death of a newborn baby late last month.
The hospital management expressed their deepest sympathies to the family on the loss.
Following a request from the family, the HSE said it would make no further comment and said the family appealed for privacy to mourn the loss of their baby.
