Man injured in Meath assault dies in hospital

One of the two men injured in an assault at an apartment in Co Meath earlier this week has died in hospital.

The 37-year-old man, who died this afternoon, is believed to be from Eastern Europe.

It is thought the men were set upon some time before 2am on Thursday 10 April at an apartment on Academy Street in Navan.

According to gardaí, the outcome of a post mortem on the deceased will determine whether the assault investigation will be upgraded.
