Closing speeches are expected to begin tomorrow morning in the trial of a former chairman of Anglo Irish Bank and two former directors of the bank.
Sean FitzPatrick, 65, from Greystones in Co Wicklow, 51-year-old Patrick Whelan from Malahide in Co Dublin and 52-year-old William McAteer from Rathgar in Co Dublin deny giving unlawful financial assistance to 16 people to buy shares in the bank in July 2008.
After ten weeks, and more than 50 witnesses, the Anglo trial has finally reached its closing stages.
The seven men and seven women of the jury are due to return to court 19 in the Criminal Courts complex in Dublin in the morning to begin hearing closing speeches from prosecuting lawyers, followed by lawyers representing each of the three accused men.
Afterwards, Judge Martin Nolan will charge the jury.
He will sum up the case and outline the law before sending the jurors out to begin considering their verdicts.
14 jurors still remain in the case. The law was changed last year allowing for more jury members for longer trials.
Only 12 will decide on the verdicts, however. The jurors were told at the beginning of the trial that a public ballot will take place in court to decide which jurors will actually deliberate.
