Saturday 18 January 2014 15.25 Solomon Soremekun, a three-year-old boy who died following an incident in a lift in Galway earlier this week was laid to rest this afternoon.
Solomon was buried at Bohermore Cemetery, after a prayer service at the mortuary at Galway University Hospital.
Pastors who minister to members of the African community in the city presided at the service to remember the boy.
His father was in attendance but the his mother was said to be too distraught to attend.
The Mayor of Galway, a representative from the Nigerian embassy here and members of the African community in Galway were among the mourners at the prayer service.
The Health and Safety Authority investigation into Solomon Soremekun's death is continuing.
