Priory Hall widow to get €5k from cash find

€5,000 of the €200,000 found at the home of bankrupt developer Tom McFeely is to be given to the partner of a Priory Hall resident who died by suicide.

The Official Assignee responsible for managing Mr McFeely's estate asked the High Court this morning to release €10,000 to his office to reward the people who found the money.

The two builders who found the cash are to receive €2,500 each.

The homeowners, who bought the house on Ailesbury Road in Ballsbridge in Dublin, were to receive €5,000.

However, Official Assignee Chris Lehane told the court that the homeowners had asked that any reward payable to them should be paid instead to Stephanie Meehan.

Her partner Fiachra Daly took his own life in July after struggling with the stress and financial difficulties caused by the problems with the Priory Hall development.

Mr Lehane said the money would be paid to Ms Meehan today.

Mr McFeely had denied owning the €200,000 in cash found at the house in September.

He claimed gardaí had placed it there.

But Mr Lehane told the High Court he was satisfied the money was the property of Mr McFeely.

Priory Hall was evacuated in October 2011 because of fire safety issues.
