A man has been arrested and a replica firearm recovered after an incident in Dublin in which gardaí fired a shot.
At around 2.30am, gardaí attended the scene of an incident at Greencastle Road in Coolock.
During the incident a man, aged in his 20s, threatened gardaí and members of the public at gunpoint.
The area was sealed off and following a stand-off the man was arrested.
The scene was attended by armed gardaí, who discharged one shot during the incident. Nobody was injured.
The man is being held at Coolock Garda Station.
The scene was preserved for a technical examination and the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission has been notified.
