A 29-year-old man has died following a shooting incident in Co Mayo.
It is understood Owen Maughan was shot a number of times in the back at a service station at Moneen in Castlebar at 3.30pm.
Mr Maughan, who was from the area, was taken to Mayo General Hospital, but was pronounced dead there at around 8pm.
Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis will carry out a post mortem at the hospital tomorrow morning.
The scene has been preserved pending a technical examination.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact Castlebar Garda Station on 094-9038200.
They are particularly interested in locating a dark-coloured estate car that left the scene heading in the direction of the Claremorris Road out of Castlebar.
No arrests have been made so far.
