An investigation is under way after a human skull, believed to be part of the remains of Christopher Gaffney, was found in Co Meath.

The discovery was made yesterday afternoon in Clonee, close to where other body parts of the 37-year-old were found.

The skull has been removed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for a post-mortem examination.

DNA tests will also be carried out.

Last month body parts and remains were discovered in the townland of Mayne, Co Meath.

Those remains were identified as those of Mr Gaffney.

The convicted drug dealer, from Blanchardstown in Dublin, was reported missing in October.

A murder inquiry is under way and gardaí have appealed for information relating to the discovery.
