Taoiseach Enda Kenny and the Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore have attended Remembrance Sunday events in Northern Ireland.
Mr Kenny laid a wreath at the War Memorial in Enniskillen and Mr Gilmore participated in ceremonies at Belfast's Cenotaph.
Mr Kenny remarked in Enniskillen that attending the ceremonies last year had a personal impact on him because he met people who had lost loved ones in the IRA bomb at the war memorial site in 1987.
The actions of Mr Kenny and Mr Gilmore are thought to be part of a step change in Government policy to develop closer links with the Stormont and London administrations.
Mr Gilmore, who has made several trips North in recent months, told a function in Belfast last night that former British prime minister John Major has been invited to Dublin next month to mark the 20th anniversary of the Downing Street Declaration.
Mr Kenny described last Friday's meeting with counterparts from the Stormont executive as possibly the best such meeting he had attended.
He also confirmed this morning that he has agreed to travel with British Prime Minister David Cameron to the Peace Park in Messines when they are next in Brussels for an EU Summit.
The Messines memorial, which is to all Irishmen who gave their lives in the First World War, was opened by President Mc Aleese, Queen Elizabeth and King Albert of Belgium in 1998.
