A former lord mayor of Cork has been found guilty of one count of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in the city in the mid-1990s.
John Murray, 83, of Gregg Road, Cork, had pleaded not guilty to six counts of sexually assaulting the teenager.
The jury returned its verdict after deliberating for over four hours.
It will resume deliberations this afternoon in relation to the other five counts.
The jury has been told by Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin that it may now return majority verdicts of ten-two or eleven-one if unanimous verdicts are not possible.
