A man charged with raping two young girls in Athlone, Co Westmeath, has been further remanded in custody after a court appearance today.
The 30-year-old from the midlands, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Harristown District Court in Co Roscommon.
He is charged with the double rape of each of the girls, aged six and nine, at an address in Athlone on 28 September.
Judge Geoffrey Browne remanded him in continued custody at Castlerea Prison.
The man remained silent during his brief appearance in court.
