A 31-year-old man abducted in Co Cavan yesterday afternoon has been found safe and well.
Richard O'Donovan, who is originally from Navan and lives in Virginia, was attacked and bundled into a car in the town.
Mr O'Donovan was driving a blue-grey 2003 Monaghan registered BMW 3 series car when a silver BMW X5 crashed into it in the Swiftbrook Estate at around 3.30pm yesterday.
A number of men got out of the X5 and attacked Mr O'Donovan, before bundling him into their vehicle and taking him away.
Gardaí received a phone call shortly before 10am this morning informing them the 31-year-old father-of-three was safe.
He is now receiving treatment in hospital in Cavan and gardaí are waiting to interview him about the attack.
Detectives think Mr O'Donovan was targeted.
They believe the abduction was planned as it was carried out with little apparent concern about potential witnesses.
An incident room has been set up in Bailieborough Garda Station and gardaí have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them on 042 9694570.
