The Fine Gael party conference has resumed in Limerick city against the backdrop of intense discussions ahead of next Tuesday's Budget, and a major drive towards economic recovery.
Up to 2,000 delegates are in Limerick for the second day of the two-day conference.
Minister for Finance Michael Noonan told delegates next week's Budget will be vital in positioning Ireland towards exiting the bailout.
He said that the Budget will target a small primary surplus, which will put our debt trajectory on a downward path.
At the end of his speech, he joked that people "will be astounded" at all the good things that will be in the Budget.
Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar said history will record this Budget as the one that allowed us to regain our sovereignty.
During her address to delegates, Minister for Children Frances Fitzgerald reaffirmed the Government's commitment to protecting children and said reforms are putting right Ireland's shameful legacy in the area.
She also stressed the importance of the introduction of a second free pre-school year.
She said that would represent €2,500 to €3,000 worth of free childcare to parents.
Last night, Taoiseach Enda Kenny spoke about the importance of getting Ireland working again and reforming the social welfare system in his opening address.
Ahead of Tuesday's Budget, there is expected to be a lot of interest in this afternoon's Town Hall-style meeting where Minister for Health James Reilly will take questions on health.
A debate on political reform will also take place ahead of Mr Kenny's live TV address at 8.30pm tomorrow night.
