A 53-year-old man was has been charged in connection with a €800,000 drug seizure at an industrial estate in west Dublin.
Gardaí had arrested a man after seizing a variety of drugs following a search of a vehicle and a unit at the Ballymount Industrial Estate yesterday.
Richard Daly, with an address at Oliver Bond, Dublin 8, was charged today with unlawful possession of cannabis and possessing it with intent to supply to another.
Detective Jerome Twomey, of the Garda National Drugs Unit, told Judge Patricia McNamara at Dublin District Court that Mr Daly made "no reply" when both charges were put to him.
He confirmed that the value of cannabis was €80,000 but said that further charges could be brought against the man.
Detective Garda Twomey said it was alleged that the cannabis was found in a "lock up" in a building which contains up to 400 storage units.
He had no objection to bail providing the court imposed a number of conditions on Mr Daly, who is unemployed.
Judge McNamara granted bail in his own bond of €200 along with an independent surety of €15,000 of which €5,000 must be lodged.
A life-long friend of Mr Daly has volunteered to stand bail.
She ordered the man to sign on at his local garda station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, to surrender his passport within 24-hours of getting released and not apply for alternative travel documents, and she said he must continue to reside at his current address.
Mr Daly, who was wearing a green jacket, blue jeans and white runners, did not address the court and has not yet indicated how he will be pleading.
The case was adjourned pending directions from the DPP.
