An investigation is being carried out after human skeletal remains were found at Kilakee Mountain, Rathfarnham, in Dublin last night.

The discovery was made by a member of the public while out walking at approximately 7.30pm.

Forensic anthropologists will visit the scene later today to begin establishing the gender and identity of the body.

An initial dental examination will also be carried out on the remains.

A garda search team will comb the area looking for clothes and other identifiable items.

The scene is preserved for a technical examination and the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis is expected to attend the scene later today.
