Further tests needed on remains found in Dublin

Written By Unknown on Minggu, 15 September 2013 | 22.40

Gardaí are awaiting the results of DNA and dental record comparisons to enable them to identify skeletal remains found at Killakee Mountain in Dublin two days ago.

The discovery was made by a person out walking at around 7.30pm on Friday.

A post mortem was carried out on the human remains this morning but further tests have yet to be completed.

A pair of runners found nearby is also being forensically examined.

Detectives believe the remains are those of a woman and are examining the possibility that she could be one of 20 women who have been reported missing.

They are also liaising with gardaí from Operation Trace and the Serious Crime Review Team (Cold Case Unit).

However, they are keeping an open mind on the case and awaiting identification of the woman before deciding which way the investigation will progress.

Detectives hope to have some tests results by early next week to enable them to identify the woman.
