Property developer Kevin McGeever has been released on bail and is to appear in court again next month on charges of wasting Garda time.
The 68-year-old, with an address at Nirvana, Ballywinna, Craughwell, Co Galway appeared at Harristown District Court today after he had the terms of his bail amended at the High Court yesterday.
The terms include that he is to reside at an address at Brooklawn, Clontarf in Dublin, sign on with gardaí three times a week and surrender his travel documents.
Mr McGeever was released on his own bond of €10,000.
He had been held in custody at Castlerea Prison for the past two- and-a-half weeks after failing to come up with the bail money, which was set when he made an initial court appearance at Strokestown District Court on 24 July.
He faces two charges regarding wasting Garda time between 29 January and 28 February this year.
The charges follow a garda investigation which was launched in January after Mr McGeever was found on a roadside in Co Leitrim.
He had been reported missing in May 2012 and was not seen until January when he was found by a passerby.
Judge Conal Gibbons was told at Harristown District Court that Mr McGeever had taken up bail in the High Court.
He remanded Mr McGeever on continuing bail to appear at Loughrea District Court on 4 September.
