A 19-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a woman at Birr Vintage Festival in Co Offaly on 4 August.
Gary Ward of Scurragh in Birr appeared before a special sitting of Portlaoise District Court this morning, where he was charged with assaulting Marie Gauvin.
Ms Gauvin, who is originally from Birr and now living in Canada, was on holidays with her father when she was struck and sustained serious eye injuries.
There was no direct evidence of arrest given in court, but Judge Aeneas McCarthy was presented with certified documented evidence of the arrest and charge of Mr Ward.
Judge McCarthy told the court he had noted that Mr Ward had replied "I still didn't do it" when the charge was read to him.
Inspector Declan Dunne asked that Mr Ward be remanded on continuing bail to a sitting of Birr District Court on 10 September.
The court heard that a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Judge McCarthy remanded Mr Ward on bail with a number of conditions.
