Northern Ireland Secretary Theresa Villiers is urging restraint from community leaders after violence in Belfast earlier this weekend and before a controversial republican event in Co Tyrone.
56 police officers and two civilians were hurt on Friday night in loyalist rioting against a republican parade in the centre of Belfast.
The call for calm comes before a controversial commemoration in Castlederg, Co Tyrone to remember two IRA men blown up by their own bomb in the town 40 years ago.
Sinn Féin Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness said the event is a remembrance occasion for republicans but should be sensitive and not offensive to others.
Unionist politicians led by DUP First Minister Peter Robinson have called for the parade to be banned arguing it "glorifies terrorism".
The Parades Commission said it did not have the power to ban parades outright but imposed restrictions, re-routing it from the central Diamond area.
Paramilitary-type clothing, flags or other symbols relating to a proscribed organisation have also been banned.
An Apprentice Boys loyalist parade in Derry yesterday passed without incident.
