A seven-year-old boy has died in hospital after he was thrown from a horse in Cork city.
He was playing with a group of friends at Spring Lane on the North side of the city when the accident happened at around 12.30 this afternoon.
It is believed the boy died after sustaining head injuries.
A post mortem examination is to be carried out to establish the exact cause of death.
A Garda investigation is underway and anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Mayfield Garda Station.
