US President Barack Obama is attending a memorial service for victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
Mr Obama will address the interfaith service, and by extension the country, following the blasts that killed three people and wounded 176.
It was the worst attack on US soil since 11 September 2001.
Police are continuing to search for a suspect seen on video taken before two blasts struck near the finish line on Monday.
No arrests have yet been made in the investigation.
Hundreds of people are crowded outside the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston's South End, around 1.6km from the bombing site.
