Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has said he expects to lead his party into the next general election.
He said he will continue at the helm of the party for "as long as the party" wants him.
Mr Adams has been President of the party for 30 years but said he still has a "useful role" to play.
But he told RTÉ's The Week in Politics that Sinn Féin are not "mesmerised" by the prospect of going into government in the South.
They would only do so if it advanced the party's aims and there could be many "deal breakers" before taking that step.
Should the party form part of the next government though, Mr Adams said it would abolish the Local Property Tax.
He also said he would assist any truth commission if it were established in Northern Ireland.
He said there must be no "hierarchy of victims".
