A 40-year-old woman has been found guilty of the murder of her husband in Tallaght in Dublin three-and-a-half years ago.
Tanya Doyle of Páirc Gleann Trasna, Aylesbury, stabbed Paul Byrne more than 60 times at that address in September 2009.
She admitted she killed her husband, but pleaded not guilty to his murder.
Doyle showed no emotion in the dock after the jury at the Central Criminal Court came back with a unanimous verdict.
The couple had separated eight years earlier, but Doyle often came back to the house to stay over.
However at 6.53pm on the evening of 4 September, 2009, the emergency services received a 999 call from Mr Byrne as he was being attacked and killed.
The call lasted just over eight minutes and Mr Byrne was begging for help saying: "My wife is stabbing me".
When gardaí got to the house, Doyle told them: "He got what was coming to him. I meant to kill him, I meant to f***ing kill him."
"I did because I wasn't going to be done for attempted murder… wanted a fresh start with decent money, he wouldn't sign over the house," Doyle told gardaí.
Doyle admitted in court she killed her husband but pleaded not guilty to his murder.
In a victim impact statement the victim's brother, Noel Byrne, said it makes no sense that this woman could take the life of such a compassionate person.
He said the family had felt sickened as the trial progressed, but nothing anyone does will bring his brother back.
Noel Byrne also said that he had hoped knowing that the woman, who so callously ended Paul's life, was going to pay for her actions would ease the pain, but it did not.
Mr Justice Garrett Sheehan sentenced Tanya Doyle to the mandatory term of life in prison.
Meanwhile, the family of Paul Byrne has said that they are grateful that his ex-wife was convicted of his murder by a unanimous verdict.
They said that they were grateful to the gardaí for the hard work they had put into the case.
