An ambulance was stolen while out attending a call in a housing estate in Dublin last night.

Dublin Fire Brigade says it happened in the Corduff Grove area of Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.

Paramedics were attending a patient, who had taken ill at a house, when the ambulance was taken just after 8pm.

The vehicle was found abandoned at the nearby Corduff Park, minutes later, by gardaí. Another ambulance was dispatched to the house, but Dublin Fire Brigade says the patient did not need hospital attention.

The stolen ambulance was checked by Fire Brigade workshop mechanics and was back on the road by 10pm.
